Masks, masks and more masks

Here's Li'l Relly in full costume with the Audrey II mask.  I went to see her perform last weekend and man was she good!  She actually took a year off from Burlesque, but now that she's back, she's firing on all cylinders.  My mask was part of a new routine she's working based on Little Shop of Horrors, and it worked really well.  I haven't had that much experience seeing my masks performed as of yet, and this was a real treat.  I could tell that all the hard work paid off, and the audience really seemed to enjoy it.  Most of all, I thought it looked great!  Which I suppose is a good sign.  I hope I get to see it again!

Now that the Audrey II project is finished I'm already deep into another project for the Shakespeare Bash'd Initiative, which is a collection of actors, fearlessly led by James Wallis, who come together to workshop some of Shakespeare's greatest plays.

I was initially involved in an excellent bare bones reading of Romeo and Juliet and have now been brought on as resident mask maker for the next staged reading of A Midsummer Night's Dream.  I'm quickly reminded how much I love this play.  It was my first high school play and I am so excited to be bringing some of these characters to life through mask.  I'm making a whopping 9 masks in total 4 of which will be custom made for the actors playing the parts.  Below are some of the pictures I'm using as inspiration for the characters.  More to come as this project unfolds.
